Last week, our very own Kane County Board Chair Corinne Pierog was invited to the White House!

Corinne participated in a briefing on how the Biden-Harris administration plans to support and create opportunities to improve the lives of people within our community. Thanks in part to Corinne’s work, Kane County has already received more than $230 million in federal funds which have directly impacted the quality of life in Kane County.

Through the Infrastructure for Rebuilding America program, Kane County received $25 million in federal funds to improve rail safety near the intersection of Randall and Hopps Road on the border of Elgin and South Elgin. The planned improvements under the direction of Kane County’s Department of Transportation will eliminate the last “at-grade” rail crossing along the 36-miles of the Randall Road corridor.

And through the American Rescue Plan Funds program, $2.280 million was received to establish the Kane County Agriculture and Sustainability Fund which will protect and preserve Kane County’s farmlands. Additionally, another $1.284 million was used to launch the Fabulous Fox River Trail promotion and infrastructure fund. Thanks to the Biden-Harris Administration, the Fabulous Fox River Trail was designated as a National Water Trail by the National Park Service in June of 2023.
